ARTIST BIO

I am an artist, illustrator, educator, and mother living in Boston, MA.

I am currently working on picture book manuscripts inspired by my children. As a parent my life is full of moments (both quiet and loud) where I am struck by the magic of childhood. As an illustrator I love capturing the sweetly absurd like when my daughter generously covers me in dozens of stickers, or when my son fashions a felt mask with googly eyes to protect me.

As an artist the inspirations for my work have disparate sources. These include stop lights on my commute to work, dreams I’ve had, or the strange little ideas my toddler shares with me.  The common thread I find in most of my work is a sense of quiet surrealism. To me it seems like beauty is inherent beneath the surface of all our experience. Like when I draw out a silly idea from my three year old to find that instead of absurdity, there is weight and depth.
